Local Charities Day announced for December 16

On 16 December the DCMS will be leading the first ever Local Charities Day,

Minister for Civil Society Rob Wilson MP says: "We need everyone to take part. We want to highlight the small community groups and charities that are making a real difference to people’s lives and celebrate the unsung heroes working to improve their local neighbourhoods."

£50m available through #iwill fund to encourage new generation of givers

The £40m #iwill investment fund aimed at ensuring that 60% of 10 to 20 year-olds across the UK are taking part in meaningful social action by 2020, has been boosted by another £10m from match funders.

The #iwill fund is an integral part of providing high quality opportunities, available to all, to enable social action to become a part of life for young people and, it is hoped, form a lifelong habit of community engagement.

A first-of-its-kind programme aimed at tooling up CEO’s of purpose-led organisations ‘to be transformational’ has been launched by On Purpose, a social enterprise that has been developing future leaders for the social enterprise space since 2009.

“The Executive On Purpose CEO Programme is a part-time programme designed to give CEOs the time, space and support to help them achieve critical transformation in their organisation,” says On Purpose CEO Tom Rippin (pictured).

Bankers raise more than £280k for Barnardo's kids

Leaders in the banking sector marked Barnardo’s 150th anniversary by raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for some of the most vulnerable children and young people supported by the charity.

The ‘Banking on Barnardo’s’ fundraising event held at London’s iconic Merchant Taylor’s Hall was attended by more than 200 leaders from the banking industry.

The event was organised and funded by event patron and Barnardo’s supporter, William Chalmers, Co-Head of Global Financial Institutions Group at Morgan Stanley.
