Prince's Trust: Head of Projects – City Bridge Trust

Aug 24th 2017
LOCATION: London (any office/centre)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Deputy Director of Operations
Youth charity The Prince’s Trust helps disadvantaged young people to get their lives on track. It supports 13 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed and those struggling at school and at risk of exclusion. Many of the young people helped by The Trust are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or they have been in trouble with the law.
The Trust’s programmes give vulnerable young people the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives, helping develop self-esteem and skills for work. Three in four young people supported by The Prince’s Trust move into work, education or training. The Prince of Wales’s charity has helped 825,000 young people since 1976 and supports over 100 more each day.
Our Vision: Every young person should have the chance to succeed.
CONTEXT OF THE ROLE: The City of London Corporation’s charity, City Bridge Trust, has committed to award £1 million each year over ten years from 2015/16 to The Prince’s Trust. This grant finances Prince’s Trust programmes that provide support to young people in London who are not in education, employment or training (NEETs) – in particular, those ‘hardest to reach’, through our Prince’s Trust Centres in London. This enables The Prince’s Trust to give vulnerable young Londoners the skills and confidence they need to move into education, training or employment. We are looking for a senior project lead in London, with an overarching purpose of focusing on maximising impact for young people from the most disadvantaged backgrounds in London. You will lead on the relationship to ensure an overall partnership approach between The Prince’s Trust, City Bridge Trust and the City of London Corporation (City Bridge Trust’s Corporate Trustee), tracking and overseeing delivery of agreed activity and outcomes, and their monitoring and evaluation. You will collaborate with a wide range of senior colleagues inside The Prince’s Trust, especially programme delivery and fundraising teams; and will be the “go-to” person for City Bridge Trust, with a counterpart on their team.
The purpose of this role is to ensure that the relationship between Prince’s Trust, City Bridge Trust and the City of London Corporation is managed to maximise impact; that funded activity is tracked and reported on; that any issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner; and that you work to build on the multiplier effect directly arising from the City Bridge Trust grant, e.g. driving the London Growth Plan and leveraging additional opportunities against this grant. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is entrepreneurial and outward-facing, with direct experience of project and relationship development with a mix of private, public and third sector stakeholders; and with a real interest in young people and London.
The postholder will be expected to engage with colleagues and young people across all Prince’s Trust sites in London as well as spend time with the City Bridge Trust team and the City of London Corporation in Guildhall.
KEY CONTACTS: Chief Executive Officer, South Regional Director, Members of the South Executive Management Team (EMT), Funder and Contract Management Team, Senior Head(s) of Fundraising, Monitoring and Evaluation Team, and the Communications Team.
BUDGET: Responsible for the City Bridge Trust expenditure of £1 million per annum.
